Photoshops’ Impact on Body Image

As I start to research scholarly articles to use for my research paper, I have came across this one that I attached below. For those of you that do not know. I am researching how Photoshop has an impact on advertisements which can lead to serious health concerns for both men and women who view these images. This is global issue due to the fact that advertisements are shown world wide impacting thousands of people across the globe. One way that advertisements are shown is through the use of social media. This is a serious issue that I can relate to personally. Imagine a 15 year old girl looking at the latest issue of “Seventeen Magazine” or “Cosmopolitan” wishing she would look more like the model in the picture. Well, little does she know, but that model has been tweaked and redefined in a million ways to look more thin, taller, and more beautiful. However, this image is completely unrealistic, but that 15 year old girl does not know that. Therefore, she starts eating less, gets a certain image in her head, and then ends up in the hospital months later with an eating disorder. Where does one go from here? This example is something that occurs on a daily basis all due to the use of Photoshop and unrealistic advertisements portrayed through social media.
