As I dive deeper into my research with how the use of Photoshop on advertisements impacts women’s body image, I decided to write a poem. I have always had a passion for writing, therefore I decided to put my words to paper, by constructing a poem about the possibilities of life, in particular my life as a woman.

Possibilities of Life

The day is bright
The world around her is spinning
The future is prospering
Will it wait for her?

Life is constantly at a deadline
but she is in need of time
She is more outgoing now
Things have new meanings
She is learning
Learning about life all over again
The life she always imagined,
but never thought would actually happen

A life full of adventures, traveling,
and making conversations for a living
A life with her best friends by her side
The world watches her become successful
A world full of scripts, cameras, and makeup
but she does not realize it
She does not see how successful, fortunate,
and acknowledgable she has become

She continues to work diligently
Similar to her past
Never appreciating the moment,
but always living for the future
The future will not wait
but she will catch up

Eventually, she will make the deadline
Prove to others that she is strong
She will then realize to live life in the present
She will grasp every opportunity
Enjoy her life with a smile everyday
Go after what she has always dreamt of
Chase her dreams

She will have the life she imagined five years ago
A successful career
A loving fiancé
A prospering future
And, at last,
A life full of laughter, love, and liveliness
