Favorite Social Justice Topic

To me my favorite Social Justice Topic is people who are Transgender. I will be honest and say that at first I was scared of this concept even though I am part of the LGTBQ community. I guess I was scared because being gay and trying to find love at the time that I did not fully see how a person is a person and that does not change if they find out who they really are. I remember when I met a guy who revealed to me that he was Transgender and around  17 began having surgery. At first I was terrified because of lack of understanding. Also when I saw the scar marks under his breasts I was again scared but then I felt ashamed when I saw his face. When he told me how he once had to leave a pool because he felt as if he could not be out in public because some parents gave him dirty looks. How when he went on dates he saw the moment they did not want to be with him because of who he is. I got interested and learned more about it and realized how so many kids who are transgender get kicked out of their homes and in many ways abused on the streets or by opportunists who see a child who is vulnerable or businesses who turn them away. These stories need to be told because we need to appreciate each other and try to become better. By not talking about it we are forcing people to live a life where they can get hurt and no one deserves that.
