Atheism –
I am interested in the topic of Atheism even though I am a person who is raised as Roman Catholic. Many of my friends were atheists and I care about them deeply. My boyfriend told me he was an atheist and it is interesting to see his side of things from a romantic perspective than a friendship perspective. I did struggle with this at first because it was just something I did not fully understand. I am interested in the topic because I have had seen my friends get treated badly for being atheist. One story in particular was a store we were going into and apparently the owner knew she was an atheist from a conversation we were having and didn’t like that me being a christian was friends with her and asked us especially my friend to leave. This is the main story I would like to tell because it is wrong to discriminate against us who were just kids at the time for simply being friends who had different belief systems. These systems were not even bad or practiced something wrong. I do not like how many atheist are told they are going to a lake of fire when they die or do not deserve love on this planet while they are alive because they do not worship God.
Anti-Muslim Business Practices –
I am interested in this because I remember discussions we had in my foreign policy class. I loved how the discussions made us view both sides of an argument and see why people think what they do. I remember when I was driving in St.Cloud a person through coins from their car at what seemed to be a Somalian man and said ” Get out of St.Cloud and then said F*** refugees”. I do not even know if this person was homeless or if they were even practicing the Muslim faith. What matters is that this random person felt the need to make a person feel so degraded because they assumed a person being Muslim was bad. One thing I loved about St.Cloud was because I got to go to classes and meet a bunch of new people from places I never have seen and hear their side of the story. I think this should be told because it was just insane to me to see a person degraded in such a way publicly under the assumption of their belief system. I loved the campus that embraced this diversity and seeing how someone less than a couple blocks away could do something so in human.
