Veterans’ Voices Month – World War I Display

Miller Center Library

In Minnesota, October is known as Veterans’ Voices Month – a month devoted to sharing information, creating opportunities for the arts and humanities, and enabling veterans to express their experiences of challenges and successes. Throughout the month, the Veterans Resource Center at St. Cloud State will offer opportunities for students and the community to learn more about the lived experiences of the veteran community. Some of these programs and events will be on-campus and others will be held virtually. We hope you can participate and learn from the variety of offerings available through the VRC and our partners at VA, Hiring Our Heroes, and the Military Families Learning Network.

This display will be available for viewing in the Miller Center Library lobby from October 19th – November 16th. Items will include field gear and uniforms commonly worn by US “Doughboys” and German soldiers in France during WWI.Unless noted, all items are original and not reproductions. Journal entries and poetry written by soldiers of this war will be included in the display. This past year marked the 150th anniversary of the end of the Great War.
