Hey everyone!
Today as you can definitely tell by the title, today I am going to be talking about one of the strangest but one of the most heartwarming books that I read last year.
This novel we follow our main character Lillian Breaker who is 28 and feels like she has gone nowhere and accomplished nothing in her life. That is until one day when she gets a letter in the mail from her old school roommate. Madison, the old roommate, has step children moving into her house and is reaching out to Lillian asking her for childcare help. However, these kids aren’t like other children, these children spontaneously combust when they get agitated.
This novel follows Lillian and the kids through one summer while they attempt to deal with the flames. And while it is a fun and somewhat strange story, there are a lot of underlying themes that feel very heartbreaking but also very heartwarming.
The writing is very accessible and it is a fairly quick read. It feels like something that would just be a fun and lighthearted read that is just supposed to be entertaining but there is some real substance and important storylines hidden in the pages.
If you are looking for something that is a little fun and a little quirky but also has the ability to make you cry, I would definitely check out this story!
As always, if you have read this novel, please share your thoughts with me down below!
