We would like to inform all faculty and staff members of another financial resource available to students who have experienced unexpected expenses as a result of SCSU transitioning to distance education during spring semester. Last week, nearly 3.5 million dollars were distributed to over 6,700 students as part of the funding received through the CARES Act. A small portion of this funding was retained for distribution through an emergency grant program. If you are aware of a student who experienced unexpected expenses, please refer the student to the Huskies Connect form included in the paragraph below. This information is also available in the “Ask St. Cloud State” knowledgebase and on the Scholarships and Grants page of the Student Registration and Financial Services website https://www.stcloudstate.edu/srfs/finances/scholarships-grants.aspx

Are Emergency Grants available to help with expenses related to COVID-19?

The CARES Act included funding to assist students who experienced expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. These expenses could include things like food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Eligible students who experienced these types of expenses are encouraged to complete a brief application that can be found on Huskies Connect at https://huskiesconnect.stcloudstate.edu/submitter/form/start/404511

These emergency funds are distributed to the student and cannot be applied directly to institutional charges on a student’s account. Awards will be made based on the order applications are received and continue as long as funding is available.
