Hello, everyone! Meet one of SCSUs Doctoral students, Nicole Gahagan. Nicole works within Student Affairs at Madison Area Technical College, as the Dean of Strategic Integrations and Initiatives. Nicole offers up some thoughts on her work, and wisdom for new professionals in Student Affairs.

Q: Why do you like working in Student Affairs?

A: “I believe in the potential power of postsecondary education to advance social and economic mobility for all. Things need to change before higher education will achieve this, and I want to be part of the change that makes this possible.”

Q: Advice for new professionals.

A: “Be clear about your personal and professional values. Work at institutions and for leaders who live out values that align with yours. If you settle for anything less, you will not be able to contribute to your fullest potential – and that’s exhausting.”
