week 5 directions

Week 5

Welcome to our fifth week of class.

Before we move toward the readings, discussions, and assignments for week 5, let’s overview quickly our week 4 activities.

Some of you were falling dangerously behind in the required class and home assignments. I contact each of you and offered assistance. This however, applies to the entire class – you can either attend the 10 AM Tues/Wed live sessions and/or request day/time fitting your schedule.

This week, we witnessed a slowdown in the FB discussions and that will reflect on your grades. You are presented with numerous topics from readings and current news on a daily basis to participate. As always, you are also constantly encouraged to bring your own topics related to class to discuss. Do not underestimate the weekly FB discussions, since they bring you a significant amount of points, which you will not be able to make up for.

Some of you are still missing to submit their January 31 first major step toward your final project. If you are not working toward your final project now and intend to complete it in the end of the semester, you most probably will not have well thought out and well-done project.

This past week, we explored the place of social media in Web 2.0 and the connection between Web 2.0, Social Media and global issues. For those of you, who missed to participate in the conversation, but want to try and make up for a missed opportunity, you still can outline your thoughts regarding that connection.

Some of you have worked on their blogs! Excellent! The others, who are behind, need to start working both on content and appearance. If you need help, let me know.

Please be strongly reminded, each week increments, including the past week 1, 2, 3 and 4 and the upcoming week 5 will continue to move in the following fashion:

  1. Read your articles, research and contribute with your own readings, if possible. Wed-Thursday.

Please be aware that your Evernote assignments for this week are crucial in proving you understand “searching.”
Failure to complete the assignments, will bring doubt over the quality of your discussions in FB and D2L discussions.

  1. Post your mini paper in the D2L Discussion and provide feedback to your peers’ mini papers. Sunday-Monday.
  2. Explore your LIB290 blog and expand your knowledge on blog maintenance and its connectivity to the mainstream social media, such as our Facebook Group, our Twitter thread (#SCSULIB290) and your personal social media.

As per directions from week1, you must start working on your blog:
