Week 7
Welcome to our seventh week of class.
Before we move toward the readings, discussions, and assignments for week 7, let’s overview quickly our week 6 activities.
Your activity on Facebook this week is commendable. I see some of you reaching for badges (bonus points). Please keep track of your badges to redeem them at the end of class.
Some of you have contacted me about their falling behind class assignments. To the rest of the class, please be as supportive as you can for those, who are trying to catch up with the rest of the class.
You need to maintain participation on FB, otherwise, you will be losing precious points. Let me know, if you have issues with your FB participation and I will help you overcome it.
Some of you are still missing to submit their January 31 first major step toward your final project and the Feb. 15 second major step toward your final project. If you are not working now toward your final project, you will not be able to deliver well thought-out product; start working on it by submitting the missing projects and working toward your first draft, due March 14.
This past week, we explored ways to organize information and turn it into knowledge. Some of you were very eloquent both on Facebook and in your mini-paper about new tools and new methods. Great job. Be not afraid, or intimidated also to critique; social media is a science on its own, but also a science in its infancy and we need to be able to discuss both the positives and the negatives.
As in the past weeks, this weekly increment will continue to move in the following fashion:
- Read your articles, research and contribute with your own readings, if possible. Wed-Thursday. https://stcloudstate.learn.minnstate.edu/d2l/le/content/3980495/viewContent/33552361/View
- Discuss your findings in Facebook (brainstorming), Twitter (microblogging). Thursday-Friday. Respond, provide feedback to your peers. Friday-Saturday
- Complete the short class and home assignments in Evernote. Saturday-Sunday

A word of support: by the Evernote assignments this week, you see that we are moving in the world of multimedia. Social Media IS about multimedia. For some, multimedia can be scary, uncomprehensive; but it also can be a lot of fun. If the first, please do contact me, or your peers and seek support in your endeavor, until you also start having fun. - Post your mini paper in the D2L Discussion and provide feedback to your peers’ mini papers. Sunday-Monday.
