Spring Break
We asked out students to tell us about their spring break using the following prompts:
- What kinds of activities did you do over break?
- Did you go anywhere new for spring break?
- How was this spring break different from holidays/breaks back home?
- What’s one reason you’re happy to be back in class?
- What’s one goal you have for yourself for the rest of the school year?
We had a few students respond with some photos they took on break.
“This spring break was spent relaxing at a friend’s house playing video games with friend’s, and playing with my friend’s cats and dogs.I have not been to any new places.I guess the difference between spring break in Minnesota and spring break in my hometown is the snow. Tokyo, my hometown, is warm and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and beautiful by now.One thing I am glad about the start of school is that I get to see my friends. My goal is to move up a level. I can’t sleep at night because I am anxious about the end of the semester approaching.”

“This year’s spring break was not much different from a normal holiday!I stayed at a friend’s house for 4 days and 3 nights, and I cared for many pets at the friend’s house!
I was very happy because I love animals!I am happy because I can study English and see my teacher when class starts. My goal for this semester is to improve my English level, so I will do my best!”

“A trip or journey with friends usually is the best choice over break. We visited Superior Lake in Duluth, which is worth considering for its spectacular view.
We were immersed in the natural scenery at the lakeside when we heard the sound of water crashing into the rocks. I also saw people were fishing in the tent and jumping into the glacier lake. We intended to stay longer, but we has to come back. The feeling of spring break is the same on each holiday back home. But I am so gold to be back in class with classmates and teachers sharing our experience each other. I also will explore more natural scenery that I have never been to with my friends.”
