Winter Break

This year we asked students to tell us about their winter break. These were the prompt questions:

Where did you go on your winter break?
Why did you choose that place?
What did you do there?
Who did you go with?
What was your favorite thing to see there?
Did you try new foods?
Where would you like to go next?

“Over winter break, I got invited to a Christmas party. After the party I stayed at a friend’s house, and we watched a movie together. My friend’s family, her sister, my sister, and I all went to see the movie Avatar. It was very fun! I also had a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallow for the first time at a Christmas market, and it was delicious! Next time, I want to visit New York City!” -Moemi

“I went to a friend’s house for winter break. We celebrated Christmas and New Year’s together there. I went with my twin sister and my sister. My favorite thing I saw there were the cats, dogs and my friend’s family. I ate tacos for the first time. They were delicious. I can’t decide where I want to go next, yet.” -Sakurami

“I just stayed in Saint Cloud MN this winter break, but my friends and I drove downtown on Christmas. We enjoyed Chinese food at a restaurant. There were a few cars on the way. It was nice drive around the city center because of the festive lights I had never seen before. I also went to my friend’s party and displayed my cooking skills. I also got to taste the different flavors of coffee from Starbucks. That’s my banal winter break. I also would like to take many photos of charming snow, but I can’t stretch my hands in the cold winter. I will go to San Francisco next winter.” -Hekun
