With a breakthrough idea to provide learning experiences for the “250 million children who do not have access to primary or secondary education”, Elon Musk has donated $15 million to Global Learning XPRISE. Global Learning XPRISE has used this money to offer $1 million each to the five finalist teams who have developed learning systems that children can use to teach themselves basic math, reading, and writing.

The finalist’s projects will be field tested in Tanzania for 15 months before the winner, measured by which group of children have made the biggest gains, will receive $10 million. This project might revolutionize the way we think about education – and solve the teacher shortage problem in both abroad and America
