Welcome to the front page of Trans Well-being, a social media project creating awareness, sharing resources, providing a space for allies and amplifying trans voices.
Our focus is on trans life and wellness in Minnesota. We recognize that trans lives are impacted by the actions of not only local leaders but also national and international actors. Trans well-being is shaped by legislation and civic action as well as by mass media and social media narratives. As an entity, Trans Well-being aims to disrupt social media mechanisms that makes some voices–dominant voices–heard while others silenced by boosting trans stories and trans consciousness to bolster the agency of trans people in media narratives.
On this site, we curate three pages:
- Posts, where we write original content about trans life in MN, online events, social media round-ups, and resources more in-depth
- Resources, a list of links supporting trans belonging in the community
- Social Media, ours and others’
The goal of each of our pages is to illuminate ways trans people and their allies can connect to greater communities for person-centered enrichment. Along axes of difference, let there be empathy and solidarity.
The project is run by English, rhetoric, and writing studies students at St. Cloud State University. We are a mix of trans and cis, LGBQ and straight, masculine and feminine, and we are all allies of trans people. We are still learning, and we hope that the more familiar we become with trans stories, the more polished our writing and improved our amplification will be.
