Following me on social media means that you are drinking from a fire hose. I subscribe to the “more is more” philosophy of social-media—meaning that I share approximately ten to fifty posts everyday to provide a constant flow of information, analysis, education, and assistance to my followers.
Method 1: I use a service called MyAlltop, which is a personalized subset of Alltop.com, a collection of over 1,500 topics containing more than 30,000 RSS feeds. My MyAlltop web page contains the last five stories from websites and blogs of organizations
I read MyAlltop and other Alltop pages with my Moto X phone, Nexus 7 tablet, or Nexus 10 tablet. Most of the time I’m accessing it while reading in bed or on a stationary bike because I find selecting material to share an enjoyable and easy task.
When I see a headline that interests me, I click through and scan the full story. If I like the story, I launch the Share menu item in Chrome and share it to a Tumblr blog called Help a Socialist Out (HASO) with only three clicks and no typing. I also use a utility called Andmade to further enhance Android’s sharing ability. Sorry iOS users, but I cannot tell you how to do this. I’ve tried to make this happen with iOS 8, and I just can’t do it.

In their latest book “Aspiring Adults Adrift”, sociologists Richard Arum and Josipa Roksa, of New York University and the University of Virginia respectively, fear that universities focus too much these days on students’ social lives at the expense of academic rigor.
Two out of three students at American universities and colleges change their major at least once during their four years on campus; one in five does so two or three times.
parents should let their preferences be known, but then leave the selection proces to their daughter or son, hopefully guided by a school councillor rather than merely friends. Another piece of advice was to visit as many campuses as possible beforehand.
getting a university degree, even merely a baccalaureate, is worth it nowadays. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the median annual wage of Americans with a bachelor degree, and lucky enough to have found (not easy) full employment, was $48,000 last year, compared with a little over $25,000 for those with only a high-school diploma. But college graduates in the lower quartile made no more than $27,000.

I have started a bibliography beginning with books and articles that LRS owns or has access. I have not prettied it up. I will send a copy to Missy. Missy, I also went and pulled the 3 books LRS owns off the shelf. They are on a chair in my office. I will also look for some good websites and add those.
Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal, MD is one of the leaders in this field. LRS owns his Winter Blues book, 1998 but he now has a newer edition.
Winter Blues, Fourth Edition: Everything You Need to Know to Beat Seasonal Affective Disorder., Sept. 2012. I would like to suggest that LRS purchases a copy. In the older edition, chapter 7 is entirely about light therapy.
Because light therapy is used as part, or sometimes all, treatment for seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which can also be part of a larger concern of depression, there should be a large sign encouraging people to seek out help from the SCSU counseling center, suicide prevention hotline, other depression URLs, etc.

You are invited to join a brainstorming session at 1 p.m. on Monday in MC 135G. We will discuss ideas regarding placement of lights, layout of space, promotion/marketing, and assessment. The study also found that girls were more likely to experience verbal and cyberbullying while boys were more likely to experience physical bullying. my note: No news here.
“School-based interventions need to address the differences in perpetrator and victim experiences,” she said. “The key is to use individualized specific interventions for bullying, not a one-size-fits-all approach.”
Bullying is still a prevalent issue, although it has taken a new form by moving online. The two kinds of bullying are different in many ways. However, interventions can often be difficult, since many think cyberbullying is less harmful than traditional bullying, and therefore don’t report it.

Hello Everyone,
Our library is thinking of purchasing a 3D printer for students and faculty’s academic uses. One possible use is that our faculty would like to print out Smithsonian artifacts and have them available for students. also, we are thinking if students have some ideas they want to print out, they can use the 3D printer as well.
I would like to hear from the list about your experience, recommendation on 3D printer. More specifically, here are my questions:
1. kind of 3D printer you would recommend. There are so many different types of 3D printer. For starting, what kind of price range of3D printer we should be looking for?
2. materials: it seems there are hundreds of materials for 3D printer. which one should we carry and what are the cost?
3. charges: should we charge to people when they print? if we charge, how much would be appropriate?
4. support: do you feel supporting 3D printer is challenging? how much of staff resources it would possibly consume in your organization?
