Xiaomi Is The Most Successful Tech Company That Most People Have Never Heard Of

Xiaomi’s business model differs fundamentally from Apple’s. In fact, it’s almost an inverse. Apple is a high-margin company.

Unlike Apple, however, Xiaomi sells its devices at or near cost. A top-of-the-line phone from Samsung can sell for the equivalent of $500 or more in China. Apple has yet to launch its iPhone 6 and 6S in China, but a recent press release suggests the retail price for an iPhone 6 will start at 5,288 RMB, or roughly $861. Xiaomi’s 64-gigabyte Mi 4 phone, its high-end model, sells for around $400. Its entry-level Redmi 1S retails for significantly less: a little over $100 in China and India.

Duties & Responsibilities

–          Build and promote technology-related materials using social media platforms such as Edublog and Youtube

–          Promote technology instruction and services across campus through various duties such as completion of physical and electronic promotional materials, contacts with student organizations and similar bodies

–          Administer database for promotion and attendance of technology instruction sessions

–          Research, assist and recommend technologies suitable for educational practices at SCSU

–          Work with the social media groups throughout LRS to synch technology related activities with other LRS promotional endeavors

–          Assist with video and audio editing activities

Minimum Qualifications to perform the duties of the position: (e.g., previous related experience; coursework/education; background check; licensure)

–          Strong knowledge in software and applications

–          Preferred advanced knowledge in Adobe Suite

–          Preferred advanced knowledge in audio and video editing applications on both Windows and Apple platforms

–          Strong knowledge and understanding of social media

Snapchat is a Smartphone application that allows users to send photos or short videos to another user. But with Snapchat messages, they disappear after viewing–usually in just a few seconds–so they can’t be forwarded or saved.

how do you build brand awareness on a temporary medium?

Do you think a short Snapchat video of your CEO playing Halo in the conference room would be interesting to a younger audience? A VP sleeping in an office meeting? The HR Director’s bad tie or haircut? Scenes such as these are the coin-of-the-realm in brand marking these days–the way for you and your brand to be “not that guy.” And Snapchat’s temporary nature is the perfect place for such less-than-serious messaging.

New research shows that girls are ahead in every subject, including math and science. Do today’s grading methods skew in their favor?

The latest data from the Pew Research Center uses U.S. Census Bureau data to show that in 2012, 71 percent of female high school graduates went on to college, compared to 61 percent of their male counterparts. In 1994 the figures were 63 and 61 percent, respectively.

Girls succeed over boys in school because they are more apt to plan ahead, set academic goals, and put effort into achieving those goals.
