Meme-creation apps are easy to find for laptops, tablets or smartphones. Search “meme-creation program” in the Apple App Store, Google Play or on your laptop, and many options will come up, including
Meme Creator, https://imgflip.com/memegenerator
Meme Generator: https://imgflip.com/memegenerator
Quick Meme: http://www.quickmeme.com/
Here are some ways you can use memes in your classroom.
Create class rules.
Make a meme for each rule and post them in the classroom. As an alternative ice-breaking activity on the first day of school, ask students to create their own memes based on the rules and share the best ones with the class or post on the bulletin board.
Learn new vocabulary.
Students can create memes to define or use new vocabulary. Display the word at the top, and place the definition or a sentence using the word below.
Identify the novel.
Students can use memes to dramatize a point from a novel or short story they are studying. Teachers can break the class into groups and have each group create a meme from assigned chapters in a class novel.
Emphasize a historical event.
Teachers and/or students can import an image into a meme-creation program and make their own meme with a witty subtitle.
Use as a device to check for understanding.
Students can also create memes as a way to review the material or to explain math formulas or science concepts.

Besides the algorithms that contribute to this truth decay, there is something equally as powerful that contributes to it as well. That other contributor is our confirmation bias.
“At its core, Media Literacy (ML) is made up of several specific competencies, such as the abilities to access, analyze, evaluate, and communicate media messages in a variety of forms. Experts and organizations typically define media literacy using this or similar collections of competencies, which in the past two decades have evolved to focus more on the active construction of media and participation in the information ecosystem.”

What is the difference between Data, Information, Knowledge and Wisdom?
Data: Anything represented in digital form, including non-executing knowledge stored in digital form.
Information: The momentary extraction of structure from data that modifies the perspective to the interpreter by creating new data or insight. Information only exists at the time of active data interpretation. Information creates the context that reveals discontinuities between what is known and what is new, triggering the need for learning.
Knowledge: Rules, algorithms, interpreters (such as pattern recognizers) or other mechanisms, including those that exist in the human brain (regardless of our ability to describe those mechanisms) that transform data into information. Knowledge may be changed by its interaction with information.
Wisdom: Specialized knowledge that acts to filter/active the knowledge that is best used to extract the appropriate information from data. Like, knowledge, wisdom may also be changed by the experience of its use through positive or negative reinforcement.

3Mbps uploads still fast enough for US homes, Ajit Pai says in final report from r/technology
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2021/01/3mbps-uploads-still-fast-enough-for-us-homes-ajit-pai-says-in-final-report/
Rosenworcel said that Pai’s report obscures “the hard truth that the digital divide is very real and very big” and that “it confounds logic that today the FCC decides to release a report that says that broadband is being deployed to all Americans in a reasonable and timely fashion.”

New Acting FCC Chief Jessica Rosenworcel Supports Restoring Net Neutrality from r/technology
https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7mxja/new-acting-fcc-chief-jessica-rosenworcel-supports-restoring-net-neutrality
Rosenworcel has long supported net neutrality, and opposed most Trump FCC policies, be it the steady dismantling of the agency’s consumer protection authority, or efforts to eliminate decades-old media consolidation rules designed to protect public discourse and smaller companies from massive media monopolies.
In 2019, Rosenworcel pressured telecom giants to come clean on their collection and sale of sensitive user location data to third parties, and consumer groups say she’s been a steady advocate of consumer rights throughout her tenure.
Roughly 42 million Americans—double official FCC estimates—lack access to any broadband connection whatsoever. Another 83 million only have the choice of one provider, usually Comcast or Charter. This lack of meaningful competition directly results in high US broadband prices, spotty coverage, and routinely terrible customer service.
